The Rebellis Flock

We currently have a flock of nearly twenty chickens of assorted breeds, including one rooster (Claudius). We also keep geese, ducks, and two turkeys as part of our mixed flock.

Our birds free range as much as possible across our land. When not free ranging, they are in a secure, electric-fenced pasture.

Plenty of free-choice fresh water, organic feed, and nutritious snacks are provided to complement whatever the birds find while they are out on the farm. Our entire flock is cooped overnight for their protection from local predators such as foxes and raccoons.

Geese

We currently have three brown Chinese ganders who are all brothers. Chinese geese are descended from the wild Asiatic Swan Goose. They were first recorded in America in 1788 when George Washington received a pair as a gift.

There are also three Toulouse geese (two ganders and one goose), which is a French breed, two American Buff geese, and one Embden goose, a breed hailing from Germany.

All of our geese are very talkative and make great guardians for the smaller birds in our flock.

Turkeys

In spring 2024, we adopted two male turkeys. Their names are Timmy and Tommy (after two polo players, Timmy Dutta and Tomas Panelo).

Turkeys are intelligent and social creatures—and Timmy and Tommy are no exception! The boys love helping out on the farm and being involved in everything. They’re here for life as friends, not food.
